#Empties / September 2016

TGIF! I'm ready for the weekend, how about you? Kraken Con is tomorrow and I'll be taking the girls to meet the voice of D.Va. We've all been obsessed with Overwatch since it came out, so I know Izzy will at least be happy to meet her. I mean she did cry when she got a D.Va shirt for her birthday...

Anyways, let's get on with the topic. Today we have my September Empties. There's not too much here, but definitely a ton of hair products. I feel like I used a ton of different hair products at once and they all ran out at once. Happens, lol. Anyways, let's get on with the products!

Copper + Sage Adzuki Bean & Rosehip Cleansing Grains // I got this sample when I tried out their cleansing oil way back when. I really didn't know how to use cleansing grains and when I did find out how (mix with water, create paste), I just felt like it wasn't really for me. I didn't like how messy this was. I think I enjoy the idea, but it just isn't for me I guess. This brand pretty much disappeared off Etsy and their website doesn't work. I wonder if they just didn't get enough sales... Such a bummer since their logo design was on point. Cruelty-free.

Nature Republic Skin Smoothing Blackhead Removing Nose Strip // I think this is the last of the Nature Republic strips... Not sure and I'd have to search since I really can't remember. These are ok, but I feel like most strips work the same. Not hard to peel off. Meh... Cruelty-free status unknown; sells in China.

Missha Speedy Solution Firming Eye Patch // Looks like this product has gotten a bit of a repackaging. This was a nice eye patch, but I don't think there's ever been a single-use patch where I've seen amazing results. Its a nice add-on for an at home spa treatment. Cruelty-free, except where required by law.

40 Carrots Carrot+C Vitamin Serum // I feel like this gets mentioned a lot, but its still my current go-to Vitamin C serum. I really do just love this stuff. I always swipe bottles I find at Marshalls. However, this is fairly inexpensive and can be easily found online. Cruelty-free.

Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish Stick // Another go-to for me. I've been refraining from repurchasing as I've been using other products. I'm trying to go through what I have before buying something else. It's hard because I love how effective this is. Just a great blemish killer honestly. Cruelty-free.

Good Things Acai Berry Multi-Tasking Micellar Water // This has a fruity scent, but other than that, this was just ok. Actually, just ok at removing face makeup, but for the eyes? Horrible. It stung too! I definitely won't be purchasing this again. Cruelty-free status unknown.

Avalon Organics Intense Defense with Vitamin C Detoxifying Towelettes // I've been on a search recently for wipes that are comparable to my favorite Pacifica wipes. I found this on a whim at Marshalls and tried it out. While I don't like the texture of the towelette, I do like the formula of the concentrate that the towelette is soaked in. I would purchase again, but I think I could find something better. Cruelty-free.

Hempz Ultra Moisturizing Herbal Lip Balm // This came in a travel set I purchased before I went to Miami. I really only wanted the case, but I decided to use all of the products too. This is last of all of the products (I think) and honestly the worst. I just didn't like this lip balm. It didn't leave my lips feeling moisturized and it stung. I eventually got to a point where I didn't want to use it anymore. Just not more me. Cruelty-free.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil Light // I absolutely love argan oil. I prefer the regular version, but if that's too heavy for you the light version is great. It contains argan esters which has a lighter consistency. I feel I use this up really fast compared to pure argan oil. Still love it though. Cruelty-free.

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 // If you can't tell by some of the other products that show up on all of these #empties posts I do, I love travel and sample kits. This came in one and I have grown to love this SPF. It's not too thick and doesn't make me feel oily or greasy. It layers nicely under light makeup. I never had a single problem with this and it promptly became my favorite sunscreen. I think the key to this SPF is to not layer a ton, but to also wait for it to set as it does feel a bit tacky at first. Otherwise, love this stuff! Cruelty-free.

The fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate will be reviewed in an upcoming Sample Sunday post.

Nubian Heritage 100% Organic Shea Butter infused with Mango Butter // I got this in my July '15 Petit Vour box and I was reluctant to try it. However, I finally caved and oh my gawd, what was I thinking?! This body butter is amazing and was one of the only moisturizers I've used that's been able to keep my skin hydrated all day. Cruelty-free.

bliss Super Minty Soap'N Scrub Energizing Exfoliator // I picked this up at Marshalls on a whim. Kind of like most things I pick up at Marshalls (lol). I like minty washes and scrubs, so this seemed like a good idea. It is! If you're a fan of the cooling effect from minty body products, you'll love this. If you like gentle scrubs, you'll love this. However, I will say, the cooling effect can be a bit extreme in sensitive areas. Be wary of putting this on the nips... Or not if you're into that. I won't judge. Cruelty-free status unknown; sells in China.

The Ellovi Mint Chocolate Butter and FLO+THEO Lemon Orchard Body Butter will be reviewed in upcoming Sample Sunday posts.

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Conditioner // As with the shampoo, this is a family favorite. Well the boys in the household don't use it, but the girls all love it. The tea tree line is such an amazing range. If I had to pick a ride or die hair range, it would definitely be this. Cruelty-free.

Herbal Essences Naked Cleansing Conditioner // I was pleasantly surprised by this cleansing conditioner. I've used quite a few before, but I always felt like I couldn't wash them out all the way. This is not like that and I love it for that. Great scent too. I'm not sure I'm sold on the concept of a cleansing conditioner or co-washing. I just don't know that its for me. However, if its your thing, check this one out. Cruelty-free status unknown.

Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Intensive Treatment // Another Herbal Essences product! This came in a trial pack with two other products (surprise, surprise!) that I thought were just ok. The star was this conditioner. I really did enjoy this and I think its a great conditioner on its own. I would use this if I did a deep clean on my hair (more than likely using the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo) and needed to add some moisture back in my hair. I also liked to leave this on a bit longer and rinse with cold water to really let my hair retain all of the moisture. Cruelty-free status unknown.

Pura D'or Premium Organic Shampoo^ // If you're looking for a good SLS-free shampoo, try this. I've done a review on this brand before and I finally finished using the shampoo. If you're wondering why it took so long, well, my shower usually has about 4-5 different shampoo/conditioner ranges in it at once. I gravitate to different ranges depending on what I feel my hair needs. Anyways, my previous review holds true and this is typically a shampoo that I'd use if I'm not clarifying my hair. I would say if you're interested in the no-poo method, start with an SLS-free shampoo first and then head that direction. Cruelty-free.

L'Oreal Professionnel Mythic Oil Nourishing Oil // I got this from my mom's salon a long time ago and it has easily become one of my favorite hair oils. It's extremely lightweight and really helps bring shine and moisture to the hair. I also found that I could use it on both wet and dry hair without my hair feeling greasy or gross. Definitely a nice product. Cruelty-free, except where required by law.

HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo^ & Conditioner^ // I've posted a review about both of these products and my thoughts are still the same. Super affordable, SLS and paraben-free and cruelty-free. There's also quite a few ranges, so there's something to suit every hair type and need. Cruelty-free.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle^ // I've also written a review on products from Beauty Protector and I still love this detangling leave-in. It smells divine and would be on my ride or die list as well. Cruelty-free.

e.l.f. Mineral Infused Mascara // This mascara is nice, but it was always my "no-makeup, really not wearing other than mascara" mascara. It just darkened up my lashes a tad and made me seem a bit more awake. Pretty much would only wear this on errand days. I liked it, but it wasn't my go-to for full blown amazing lashes. Still a good product for the cost. Cruelty-free.

Rose Essence Oil Blotting Paper // I really only grabbed these because of the pattern on the package. Also I needed blotting papers and I didn't have any on me. Decent and would buy again since they're so cheap. I may just stock up on blotting papers from Daiso as e.l.f. excludes blotting papers from their sales. Boo! Cruelty-free status unknown.

Dr. Bonner's Peppermint Pure Castile Soap // So this is under the makeup section because I was using this as a brush cleaner. However I ended up using the last bit of the soap to clean my most recent tattoo while it was healing. I know you're not supposed to use scented soaps, but the slight cooling feel on my tattoo felt amazing. Especially in that first week. As a brush cleaner? Would purchase again. Currently I have a large bottle of the unscented castile soap, so I'll be using that for both my brushes and my tattoos! Cruelty-free.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Medium 25 // I've had this tube for such a long time and when I was going through my collection, I found it and thought I'd try it again. I feel my taste in concealers have changed as this just felt way too drying and heavy. I'm thinking perhaps it was spoiled by the time I used it again as it hurt when I last tested it. Cruelty-free, except where required by law.

e.l.f. Under Eye Concealer & Highlighter in Medium // Now a concealer that I love. I think you know this is my tried and true concealer. It's not heavy, however the coverage is very light. Not a go-to for glam makeup, but you all know I'm not a glam makeup gal. If you're not into a ton of coverage, this should be your jam. Cruelty-free.

e.l.f. Clear Brow & Lash Mascara // And ending the post with another holy grail. Now I will say, I've been trying a bunch of other brow gels and I think I may have found one I like more... Yikes! I want to use it all up before I pass judgment on it. But for this, I love how inexpensive it is and that it works for me. My brow hairs tend to get a wild and crazy and I feel this does hold them in place all day without making them feel crispy or crunchy. Overall, a good brow gel to start with. Cruelty-free.

And that's it! Have you tried any of these products? If so, share your thoughts. And if there's something I didn't like, but it worked for you, let me know! Have a great day and I'll see you (for real this time) on Sunday!
