Nuxe Sun Silky Self-Tanning Body Lotion

Happy Friday! As its getting close to summer time, I thought now would be the best time to test out a type of product that I've never used, but have always wanted to try. We all want to have a glorious tan before the summer sun hits us and sometimes the only way to achieve that is through tanning products. I'm a total newb when it comes to these, so I thought I'd take one for the team and test one out. Today's review is on the NUXE Sun Silky Self-Tanning Body Lotion.

This product is said to provide an "...even and natural-looking tan in just one day with a touch of iridescence for stunning-looking skin." It is also described by the brand as being moisturizing. The packaging also states that it does not contain sunscreen of any kind. Which means you'd best be wearing some when you walk outside.

Let's start off by reviewing the ingredients. I also have them posted on CosDNA:
Water, Glycerin, Dihydroxyacetone, Propylheptyl Caprylate, Propanediol Dicaprylate, Arachidyl Alcohol, Erthrulose, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Lauroyl Lysine, Oryza Sativa Hull (Rice) Powder, Fragrance, Behenyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Tocopherol, Capryloyl Glycine, Eichhornia Crassipes Extract, Sodium Stearoil Glutamate, Arachidyl Glucoside, Xantham Gum, Citric Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Mica, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylcellulose, CI77891/Titanium Dioxide, Dehydroacetic Acid, Dimethiconol, Inositol, Terasodium EDTA, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Gluconolactone, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Citrate, Fagraea Berteroana Flower Extract, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Linalool, Geranol, Citronellol
Now that we know the ingredients, let's talk about application. I will say that application is very easy and this honestly does not streak. You just apply using your hands and really work it in. Just make sure to wash your hands once you're completely finished. I didn't notice any staining on my hands or random streaks so I would definitely say that's awesome.

As far as drying time, I think this sets rather quick. However the actual lotion doesn't feel too moisturizing. Then again, my skin on my body is quite dry. On my first day's application I used an oil moisturizer, but I noticed that the moisturizer didn't really absorb into my skin too well and just sort of stayed above my skin. On my second day's application, I used a cream moisturizer after the lotion set. It absorbed slightly better, but still didn't set entirely.

I didn't notice any staining from the product while sleeping or while I was out and about. I would've definitely noticed as my bed sheets are white. However, because the body oil didn't set all the way, I noticed that it would pick up if you really tried to rub it off.

Below are photos taken right after my moisturizer was applied.

In the photo you can definitely noticed a more golden color to my skin after the second application. The instructions state that this can be used daily until you achieve the color you want. Personally, I'd go probably to four applications, but since it started to get cold right as it started getting warm, I decided to stop applying. No point in being tan when its all covered up by sweaters and pants. I did get a compliment on the tan, so hooray for that!

Now if you're like me, you may have noticed in the ingredients list the massive amounts of fragrance added to the product. Don't let that fool you. This product just simply smells horrendous. I really don't know how to describe it. The lotion itself is yellow colored; think banana slug. I image this smells just like that now burned-in image of a banana slug. Seriously. This stuff smells terrible. It's also a lingering smell. No amount of body spray or perfume can mask it. It sticks to your clothes and just doesn't go away!

Overall, this seems like its a decent tanning product. I'm four days off my second application and while I'm back to a first application color, I would say it lasted for a decent while... I think. I'm a newb, remember? But, while it does look nice, the smell is horrible. I'll use this product up, but I'm hoping there's something that smells much better than banana slug.
